Working with Date values is one of the key aspect in any data analysis. Date column is present in almost every dataset. Storing of date value and working with it requires different set of functions and its knowledge. From a given date, their maybe a requirement to find which weekday does the date corresponds to. Microsoft Excel has Weekday function to figure out the same. In this article, we will see How to use Weekday Function in Excel.
Emma has customer data for her company. She is looking forward to figure out the weekday of the birth date in the customer data. We will see in this article how to find the weekday value for the given date of birth.
Excel function which returns Day of the week
- Step 1: Use Weekday function with parameter as the cell which contains date value. As here we have to find out the weekday value from Date of Birth, below is the syntax that will help to get the desired value.
=WEEKDAY(J5)
- Step 2: Copy the cell K5 and paste the formulas to rest of the cells in the column. This will generate updated Weekday column for whole table.
